21 years and over
Founded in Wisconsin in 1981 by DARREN BROWN and ERIC LUNDE, BOY DIRT CAR released a bulk of their records in the 80s on legendary noise and experimental music label RRRecords. Both BROWN and LUNDE went their separate musical ways through the Saved By The Bell years, but BROWN re-formed BDC in 2007 and in 2010 released the Familia LP on their own After Music Recordings and many consider that LP to be a return to the glory of the witchy malevolence of their classic albums. BDC play Chicago on a brief Midwestern tour supporting a new release, a slip LP with fellow Sconnie psych-rock band F/I, who have shared BDC members over the years. The split alludes to BDC’s first vinyl release, a split LP with the same participants nearly 25 years earlier. The current line-up of BDC shares the stage tonight with erstwhile former member ERIC LUNDE, whose recent output has increased from a steady tumble to avalanche range in the last two years, with dozens of tapes, CDrs and CDs out on various labels. His recent 3CDr/DVDr boxset, Localized Noise-Induced Transmissions: The Athens Project, creates a noise sonic cartography based on a commission from the Athens Museum of Contemporary Art, combining field recordings with performance and theory. Also joining tonight’s noisy reunion is local noise powerhouse JASON SOLIDAY, releasing his debut CD for Crippled Intellect later this summer and KARL PALOUCEK, a longtime BDC member and solo artist in his own right, opens. PALOUCEK’s live rig over the past few years includes tinfoil, sewing machines, scrap iron, water and pianos and provides the perfect sounds to open up tonight’s celebration.
