Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Chicago get ready, cause local weirdos DEAD RIDER are coming to our stage for the first time since 2009. Back then they were called D. RIDER. Now they’ve got a new record out on DRAG CITY and they’re planning to rework your molecular structure tonight with their unique and twitchy experimentations. Joining them are MOTEL BEDS, rock and roll band out of Dayton, OH. During SXSW this year, fellow Ohioan KELLEY DEAL got on stage and sang the band’s hushed and atmospheric track “Tropics in the Sand” with the band. She also sang on the album version a few years back. But MOTEL BEDS aren’t a band that needs to rest on the laurels of their friends. Rather, their friends seem to be a result of the quality of rock and roll that this band has been churning out for over a decade now. Guitarist DERL ROBBINS has done recording work for GUIDED BY VOICES, and it’s easy to understand why listening to the gritty guitar tones that are rawer than truck-stop-sushi on Sunfried Dreams. BEAR CLAW return to the Bottle tonight with their powerful, noisy-yet-melodic songs. Utilizing their obtuse instrumentation of two bass guitars and drums, they are here to pulverize yet again, so bring your hockey pads and buckle up.
