PANDA RIOT are a local outfit that excels at pure pretty - mixing all the blissed out elements of PORTISHEAD and MY BLOODY VALENTINE with the subversively undeniable pop of the PIXES and the BEACH BOYS on their newest Far & Near EP and their excellent LP, She Dares All Things. Newish outfit ADVANCE BASE is the project of OWEN ASHWORTH, "the dude who brought you CASIOTONE FOR THE PAINFULLY ALONE." His previous outfit delivered songs that were delicately sublime and from what we've heard of this new effort from sundry 7"s and online offerings, ADVANCE BASE keeps the lovely going. Electroacoustic duo THE HIT BACK make their Empty Bottle debut here with their own swirlingly lovely soundscapes.
