Additional Information

Returning to our stage are the unbelievably loud yet relentlessly beautiful trio THE LIFE & TIMES. As difficult to classify in any genre due to their ever-expanding sonic capabilities, the band's moody, spacey and sonically overwhelming sound becomes even more grandiose live. We should know, we've hosted them here at least a dozen times over the course of their 12-year existence, and it's been a thrill to watch them evolve over the years. LIFE & TIMES released their newest full-length, No One Loves You Like I Do, through Slimstyle Records in 2012, condensing beautifully lush, over-the-top arrangements into a tight collection of songs. The effort overflows with immediacy and urgency, building on Pitchfork’s praise of the band creating “a wall of sound that moves in and evaporates like fog, leaving only keyboards and moogs behind.” DELETED SCENES is a compulsively apologetic rock band from Washington, DC, who've released two acclaimed albums and have shared the stage with the likes of CURSIVE, WILD NOTHING, THE ANTLERS and MATT & KIM. The band grabs rhythmic feels from 80's pop, R&B, surf rock, dark funk, and Go-Go, discovering a unique ground between pop and experimental impulses with an art-rock flair. DELETED SCENES' lyrics explore themes of family, love, death, and joy in a self-devouring poetic style, with fuzzy and warped production forming surreal sonic landscapes. The genre-bending foursome is releasing their third full-length, Lithium Burn, on Park the Van in mid-April, so expect a lot of new, mind altering material here tonight. Noisy rockers THE KICKBACK came to life when brothers BILLY and DANNY YOST moved to Chicago from South Dakota and put up an incredibly detailed Craigslist post to lure bassist EAMON DONNELLY and guitarist JONNY IFERGEN. In their five years together, the band has released a hand full of EPs and singles, including their most recent single, "Rob Our House," a rambling, post-punk-inflected tale of when BILLY & DANNY's apartment was burglarized while they were moving into their first practice space. Sound Opinions critic Jim DeRogatis wrote of THE KICKBACK's live show: “The stories have begun to spread about [the band’s] explosive live performances, with the members cheerfully owning up to the occasional broken chairs and bloody knuckles.”
