Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Consistently bashing us against the wall and throwing us to the gutter, SWEET COBRA combine plodding, ominous riffs with thunderous drums and caveman vocals, turning it up to 11 for a whole new level of ass-kickery. The trio release albums so heavy and epic that Alternative Press has asked, "Why aren't these guys huge again?" Well, they're huge to us, AP, and to anyone else who's witnessed their power of their earth-shaking live show. Three-piece punk-as-fuck rockers MEAT WAVE return to the Bottle tonight to fill us with their fierce and meaty goodness. These dudes really rock the shit out of their songs and we can't help but rage every time we listen to their debut full length, available only online or on cassette via Let's Pretend. Before you see em open tonight, peep this Soundcheck feature from the Chicago Reader and get ready to catch the wave, man... the wave of meat. RAD PAYOFF makes their Empty Bottle debut tonight and, wouldn't you know it, they're here to celebrate the release of their debut full-length, The Good, The Rad and The Ugly, out on Let's Pretend. Double debut! Playing noisy, hard-edged punk with raw guitars, punishing rhythms and guttural, acerbic vocals, RAD PAYOFF's self-dubbed "slow speed metal" provides that much-needed smack upside the head you've been asking for. Returning for the second time this month are local noise-makers VELOCICOPTER, a band who previously hadn't played our stage in almost three years. Currently pimping out a new album, these four maniacs play hair-raising, hard-hitting rock'n'roll with dangerously catchy hooks and raucous riffs.
