You don’t have to be a Francophile, you didn’t have to be alive in 1969, you don’t even have to like nudity/sexy time in your songs to be aware/a fan of SERGE GAINSBOURG and JANE BIRKIN. The heavy-breathing vocalist on one of the most infamous chart-toppers in British history, the banned but #1 “Je T’Aime…Moi Non Plus,” we are honored to welcome BIRKIN to the lovely Portage Theater for a celebration of her vocally intertwined career with one-time husband, the legendary GAINSBOURG. Spending the 70s appearing in films (including Don Juan 73 featuring her as the same-sex lover of BRIGITTE BARDOT), BIRKIN also recorded classic albums with GAINSBOURG that have become internationally treasured for their cooing, coquettish delivery and clever songwriting. Tonight she is accompanied by pianos, strings, brass and percussion while performing from the renowned cannon of GAINSBOURG/BIRKIN.
