Having opened at the Bottle this year for TORCHE and TODAY IS THE DAY, Winnipeg's Juno Award-winning metal heroes KEN MODE are making their way back to our stage for their first headlining gig. It's easy to think of this trio as a new band, but many new fans may not realize that these hard-rockin' dudes have been at it for well over 13 years. This year's Entrench, released on Season of Mist, has received considerable acclaim for melding metal, industrial, punk and noise-rock into a delightfully vicious package that thrashes and wails with devastating brutality. With two vocalists, crushing guitars, asphyxiating bass, rich analog synths and pummeling drums, BEAK return tonight with the angular doomsday prog metal found on their debut LP, 2012's Eyrie. Of the effort, The Phoenix says one word describes the debut, “brutal... listening to it is probably akin to what it feels like to be one of those crash-test dummies going through a windshield,” and The Aquarian praises the bands ability to create “a world in which there is no escape and the only thing left to do is listen to Eyrie all over again. The eerie prog-rock release from the quintet is just the start to where the band can go. In a word: surprising.” Chicago four-piece ZAIUS open the show with their intelligent instrumetal that, in the words of MetalSucks, "steers completely clear of djent while still managing to bring the groove (via Maserati), atmospherics (via Constants, If These Trees Could Talk, etc) and the heavy (via Scale the Summit). Bomb." It's another don't-miss metal Sunday here at the Bottle - you know what to do.
