Additional Information

MIKAL CRONIN's Merge debut, MCII, was released this past May and it took the "independent" rock world by storm, receiving widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike. While his self-titled debut, released on Chicago's own Trouble In Mind, from 2011 was all about endings – the end of college, the end of a serious relationship, and the end of his time in Los Angeles, where he grew up – it’s no surprise that his sophomore release MCII is all about new beginnings. Recorded in late 2012 in his newly adopted home of San Francisco, the new record’s sophisticated, fuzzy power-pop features several guest appearances and is all over the map. A remarkably gifted songwriter and uber-talented musician, CRONIN played all of the instruments on the album and has said the new record “sounds kind of schizophrenic" - it's also fucking brilliant. MIKAL and his band stopped by the Bottle for TWO SOLD OUT SHOWS this past June and this all ages banger is the perfect "victory lap" to a breakthrough year. A real cherry on top, if you know what we mean. Joining us at LSA is local quartet YAWN and their enchanting breed of lush and inventive dream-pop. Complex layers of percussion, electronic trans and whimsical vocals marry dance, electro and psychedelic leanings into their uniquely trippy sound. Channeling bad vibes and worse hangovers, Chicago's BASIC CABLE keep it loose and fun as they commiserate among themselves and anyone who gives enough shits to give their attention. Fairly new to "the scene," their blown out guitars, shouted vocals and punishing rhythms make for a noisy, punk-as-fuck attack that tingles our dingles in ways we can barely comprehend.
