Label mates CHAD VALLEY & KEEP SHELLY IN ATHENS are hitting the Bottle on a quick North American tour, so put on your Friday best and come on down and make your dream-pop dreams come true. Taking time off from his other band JONQUIL, CHAD VALLEY is the personal outpourings of one HUGO MANUEL. His music has been on every blog you can think of, praised for its ambition that stretches well beyond the context of its creation. His debut album, Young Hunger, features knock-out production, a global set of influences, unbelievable guests, (TWIN SHADOW, GLASSER, ACTIVE CHILD, EL PERRO DEL MAR) and is a highly personal, heart-felt record about having the fire to realize your intentions. Grecian boy-girl duo KEEP SHELLY IN ATHENS have been dubbed “plaintive techno,” “melancholy disco,” and “downcast dance music” – all by the Guardian –and Pitchfork praised their Campus Maritus EP out via Planet Mu late last year for their “surprisingly nasty underbelly that keeps the otherwise lightweight songs from floating away and offers a tangible undercurrent separating them from a legion of dream-pop acts singing the same pleasantly slurred tune.” Joining the chorus of online fawning, Gorilla vs. Bear gives one of our fave descriptions – “a shimmering, sexy-smooth, Balearic pop dream, perfect for soundtracking all the lingering yearning and regret of your next late-night comedown.” We're stoked to be welcoming KSIA back to the Bottle tonight and they're touring in support of their debut full length At Home, out September 17 via Cascine Records. Returning tonight are some local favorites who really "bring it," if you know what we mean - it's Chicago's HANDSOME TYRANTS. The electronic trio delves into the depths of experimental electronic music with influences in hip hop, psych, ambient and industrial music. The perfect openers for a perfect night. GROOVER CLEVELAND, a Chicago-based DJ, will be spinning the best electro, indie and hip-hop classics throughout the night, so show up early and stay late cause the party don't stop until we're legally obligated to close down!
