21 years and over
The Stoned Ambassadors are a rock n roll band from Brooklyn, NY. They worship the electric guitar at the altar of The Stooges, Spacemen 3, The Jesus and Mary Chain, the Sex Pistols and The Rolling Stones. Their new ep "Bring You Down" (Labor of Love Records), sees the band growing from their home recording roots into an anger-fueled, sonic blitzkrieg of feedback, raging guitar and self-hatred. This is music for outsiders and loners; not scenesters and "nice boys".
Rich, sonic soundscapes borne from the bubbling swamps of Washington, D.C. thrust forth to Philadelphia and beyond. Dreamy, moody, colorful, yeah, it's all of that- but something lurks beneathe the surface of it all. Love, despair, dying, drugs, the good life, the darkness: it's all there, smashed into whirling, swirling fragments as the colour-sound wheel that spins before you. Waves of question crashing for no answer, only to be asked. The Sounds of Kaleidoscope have graciously stepped forth and shared the stage worthily with such commanding acts as the Fall, the Lilys, Luna, and more. They are dutifully here to serve you the truth, in any colour that you like.
Brooklyn's Sky Picnic surrounds the listener in a mystical and fairy tale like world of psychedelia, taking you to the edge of the universe and the unknown regions of the mind. Recently signed to Nasoni Records of Germany, their debut LP "Farther In This Fairy Tale" was released in March 2011.
Blissful, NYC based psychedelic rock in the old-school vein, pretty similar to The Velvet Underground or Religious Knives, except less misanthropic and more lysergic.
