Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
We're excited to welcome them back tonight as they're joined by vintage rock & soul whirlwind HANNI EL KHATIB, whose live show has been compared to "time-traveling" by Buzz Bands LA, where they RIYL'ed KHATIB: "the 50s, the 60s, sock hops in speakeasies." BASS DRUM OF DEATH is a two-man strong attack formation of garage pop, equal parts HASIL ADKINS and NIRVANA. Pitchfork has raved, "don't let their ominous-sounding name fool you: Oxford, MS duo BASS DRUM OF DEATH make noisy, garage rock that's easy to like," and Victim of Time has called their tunes, "fuzz-ridden noise calamities wrapped around simple pop tunes that seems as brilliantly eroded and dangerous, as they seem to bleed with modern blues shards." Gritty, garage sound with guitar riffs and catchy hooks that are impossible to resist, PUJOL anchors chant-able choruses with classic vibes on their JACK WHITE -produced Black Rabbit 7" out on Third Man Records. Shambolic (and super cute) all girl group THE PLEATS open tonight's sonic explosion.
