21 years and over
Marking their return to the Bottle for the first time since late 2011, Brooklyn based CRYSTAL STILTS fuse together glam inspired garage-pop gems that are as noisy as they are catchy. Their trembling surf pop has enabled the band to carve themselves a niche outside of the contemporary indie-pop sphere by consistently creating vibrant, multi-layered arrangements, dredged in a psychedelic haze, which has the ability to soothe as well as surprise. CRYSTAL STILTS are touring this fall in support of their excellent new full-length record, out this past September via Sacred Bones. Singer-songwriter ZACHARY CALE, also based in New York, is tagging along with the STILTS for a brief spell to support his spellbinding, melancholy new record, Blue Rider, courtesy of Ride Through The Rain. Just when you think the "singer-songwriter" genre couldn't possibly have any juice left, CALE reminds us that the well is far from dry. "Over eight diamond sharp tunes," Aquarium Drunkard praises, "Cale casts a captivating spell" that is not to be missed on a chilly fall evening. Based in Chicago, LANDMARKS is an indie rock band whose sound is a unique mixture of shoegaze and art rock seen through a psychedelic surf-rock lens. The five-piece's ability to go from ambient soundscapes to manic, noisier tracks is evident on their May 2013 7" from Public House Recordings. Fronted by singer/guitarist STEPHEN SIMKO, the band relies on keys player MATT THOMAS and DREW MCBRIDE for swirling movements and melodies while bassist ANDREW MANKTELOW and drummer KEVIN SAGER drive the songs in a compelling, forward-thinking style.
