HEY MARSEILLES isn’t a French tourist trap, nor are they your typical “Seattle band.” The six-piece orchestral folk-pop band started in 2006 with NICK WARD (guitar, drumbourine & mandolin) and MATT BISHOP (lead vocals & guitar) started jamming in college. Over the past seven years, the band has gained four more members and their “folkestral” energy is fueled by a variety of instruments, ranging from cello to accordion. Being a group of six tall, dreamy hunks sure doesn't hurt their cause, too. HEY MARSEILLES’ sophomore album, Lines We Trace, released in March 2013 on Thirty Tigers/Onto Entertainment, perfectly reflects the diverse influences while showing their growth over the past years, separating them from the overabundance of broke-ass folk-pop acts out there. Touring with them for a co-headlining tour is THE APACHE RELAY. Another six-piece band, but hailing from the great city of Nashville, the band's most recent release, American Nomad, out last year, is laced with Springsteen-esque, anthemic songwriting that brings serious amounts of rock to the “folk-rock” world. We imagine they'll be bringing some new songs for the lengthy tour, so make sure you get here on time, ya dingus! It's a Sunday night show that's guaranteed to lift your spirits up and will hopefully make you forget about those impending Monday blues. You might as well just call in sick the Friday before.
