Additional Information

Longtime staples of the New Orleans scene, QUINTRON & MISS PUSSYCAT bring a little flavor, and madness, of the deep South to the Empty Bottle and we’re very excited to have them back. Balancing QUINTRON’s organ mincing explosions with MISS PUSSYCAT’s quivering maraca accompanied wailing, not to mention her inimitable puppet show, the duo fashions songs that are pure insane exuberance. Swampy and explosive (sounds like my wedding night!), not to mention charming and delightful, Q & P are here to destroy yet again with a set of barely controlled chaos. Their last LP, Sucre Du Sauvage, on Goner, further pushed the boundaries of their sideshow-esque organ driven rock, so expect them to shred those boundaries here live. Armored with an old organ and a 3-piece drum, zZz started making noise in the mid-2000s and immediately started blowing people's minds. Their spacey, echo-soaked mix of 50’s R&B, drone and electro brought with punk attitude has drawn comparisons with SUICIDE, SILVER APPLES, CRAMPS and DEPECHE MODE, or a mix of the four. Currently the boys are working on their third album which should be available by the end of 2013 - hey, maybe you'll even be able to pick one up tonight! MAGAS (aka James Marlon Magas) has been creating unconventional music since 1992, with avant rock bands COUCH and LAKE OF DRACULA, and since 1999, as solo electronic rocker, MAGAS. Known for wild, energetic performances, MAGAS's sound has leaned heavier and wilder as of late. Though his short-lived VIOLENT ARP BAND is no more, the long-running analog practicioner is continuing his electronic mindfuckery and returns to the Bottle to open tonight's show.
