Duo is the collaboration between Grammy Award winner Richard Marx and Vertical Horizon’s front man Matt Scannell. Duo released their studio debut on May 12, 2008. Predominantly done on acoustic guitar, except for “Give You Back” performed on piano, the album features tracks from Richard’s solo albums and Matt’s Vertical Horizon days.
Known for their harmonized vocals and slick pop style, Vertical Horizon started in 1991 as a folk-based acoustic duo. In 1999 their major-label debut, “Everything You Want,” went double platinum and Vertical Horizon supported the release with an American and European tour.
Matt Scannell’s Vertical Horizon composer credits include the hit songs “Everything You Want”, “Best I Ever Had”, and “I’m Still Here”.
Over the last 20 years Richard Marx has consistently made his mark on the music industry with over 30 million albums sold and 13 #1 songs. In 1992 he was awarded Billboard’s Best Selling Adult Contemporary Artist and in February, 2004 Richard won the Song of the Year Grammy for “Dance With My Father.” Richard has remained a fixture on pop and adult contemporary music and has worked with Ringo Star, Keith Urban, Vince Gill and Barbra Streisand.
