With its debut, self-titled album release, The Coal Black Engine makes two definitive statements: First, real rock and roll is alive and well. Second, gifted musicians with southern Souls are still forging blues and soul into fresh, powerful songs that speaks to (and for) generations of listeners.
The Coal Black Engine is: Singer and Guitar Slinger Eldon Huff –who comes with a voice just soulful enough to beckon the word “Classic” and a lifetime of brilliantly penned songs and incredibly electrifying musicianship.
Bassist Tony Nagy --who’s touring and recording hit list includes Lee Roy Parnell, Mark Selby and Kenny Wayne Shepherd also custom designs basses as brilliant as he plays em.
Drummer Chuck Fields --whose mountain of Touring credits include Johnny Reid, Martina McBride, Phineas Newborn and FreeWorld, a group that just earned him a coveted Brass Note on Memphis’ Beale Street.
Keyboardist/Producer Paul Brown --whose years of live and recording credits including Soul legends Ann Peebles, Al Green, Rock Icons Jimi Jamison (Survivor) and Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent) ultimately led him to recently scoring International Producer of the Year and Best Soul Blues Album of the Year at the 2012 BMAs for is work on Bobby Rush’s 2012 release)
The Coal Black Engine along with the debut release is indeed one serious musical force with a live show as powerful and honest as its collective Souls…
