Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
There are free WALKING BICYCLE's 7"'s for everyone at the show courtesy of the fine folks at Highwheel Records.
Headlining July 2013's final FREE Monday and returning for their first Bottle show since opening for ELEANOR FRIEDBERGER in early June is Chicago-based quartet VIDEOTAPE. Their mix of indie-pop, shoegaze and noisy undercurrents create a dense cloud of atmospherics for an ethereal and wistful sound. Their debut LP, This Is Disconnect, came out last year and was one of the more dynamic and captivating local record we listened to last year. Propulsive post-punk band WALKING BICYCLES will be returning to our stage and we're stoked to welcome them back. They'll be celebrating the release of their new 7" and playing songs off a new album, also their first since 2009, and we can only hope it's as good as ¿Go?. Chicago's PAMPHLETEERS open the show, deriving from a deep and abiding commitment to the hook and the occasional trip to the whitewashed stratosphere. Drawing on myriad influences from the early British Invasion, nascent psychedelia, proto-metal, to 1980's new wave, the trio yield tuneful nuggets and aggressively moody dirges that lodge deep in your medial pre-fontal cortex.
