Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
As of now, AXEL WILLNER (aka THE FIELD) is busy at work in his Berlin studio writing his next album and, thus, taking a break from touring with the band. During this time, he has expressed an interest to perform his solo, ambient live show for select events. Using an array of analogue electronics, its a performance best suited to small venues, and a rare chance to intimately experience his experiments in the hypnotic arts. Where possible, the show will be accompanied by a visual set, created by photographer and artist SONIA ALVAREZ. A long term collaborator with AXEL (you will find her images in all his album sleeves), the pair have been exploring and developing the relationship between their work to greater depths. The result is a completely immersive sensory experience, unburdened by stylistic boundaries or functional responsibility, intuition becomes the only guide. The artist is free to take any direction, and you are free to join the journey. Bring your Visine and show up early for WHEN CLOUDS ATTACK’s unique blend of electronic tinkering and post-rock instrumentalism with visual projections that will blow eyes, ears and minds. Opening tonight's show are Chicago's HANDSOME TYRANTS, an electronic trio that delves into the depths of experimental electronic music with influences in hip hop, psych, ambient and industrial music.
