Los Angeles singer/songwriter/guitarist JIM WILSON, best known for his work with his own band, Mother Superior, has just released his first self-titled solo album. It features contributions from U2/Bob Dylan/Neil Young producer DANIEL LANOIS and also a track with the legendary band SPARKS.
Known for his soulful vocals and guitar work, this is JIM WILSON's first solo album after releasing 10 albums with Mother Superior, who were also known as the backing band for HENRY ROLLINS. Wilson wrote all the songs on the new album and plays all the guitar and bass as well as lead vocals.
Jim Wilson has been playing in DANIEL LANOIS' band for a decade, including touring as bassist for his latest project, BLACK DUB. A just-completed world tour ended with a festival gig in Canada where Wilson played bass and sang background vocals with EMMYLOU HARRIS.
Jim Wilson is currently the lead guitarist for SPARKS, Ron and Russell Mael's unique band, and was involved in the 2008 "Sparks Spectacular" when the band performed all 21 of their albums in chronological order in 21 nights. Wilson is also featured on the latest Sparks LP, "The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman."
As a songwriter, Wilson has written songs for HENRY ROLLINS, ALICE COOPER, MEAT LOAF and PEARL (featuring singer Pearl Aday and Anthrax guitarist SCOTT IAN), with whom he will release an all-new album this year with all songs co-written by Wilson.
Jim Wilson is a vinyl collector and musicologist with a deep knowledge of all kinds of music. He hosts his own internet radio show called "The Vinyl Shelf."
Over the last year Bobby Alt (Co Founder and Creator of the award winning drum and percussion ensemble Street Drum Corps) has fused the individual musical identities of drumming/production/and modern day djing to form his revolutionary hybrid electro drum synching show and EP "Back Towards Earth"
