The world of RapScallions is wacky, wild and full of surprises. The band’s bone-crushing, funky and ballsy music is catchy and fun…sort of reminiscent of early Red Hot Chili Peppers, but with a very modern twist. Clemence explains, “We all come from such different backgrounds, so that dynamic definitely makes the band what it is. Sergio Ochoa is from Orange County, California, Chris Clemence is from New York, Dario ‘The Italian Scallion’ Forzato is from Milan, Italy and James Forsberg is from British Columbia, Canada. We’re from completely different corners of the earth. What brings us together is our love of funk, rock, hip hop, and the power of performing this type of music live. Each of us has such different musical tastes, and by combining all of our influences from growing up, we've created an original sound of our own.” RapScallions front man Matt Still adds, “We are all from different parts of the globe, but we have come to California with one goal in mind.”
RapScallions will release their debut self-titled EP on October 11, 2011. For such a young band, RapScallions has already enjoyed plenty of successes. “We were very lucky to have an all-star team working on our EP. We recorded it at Interscope studios in Santa Monica with producer Wendy Starland, who is credited with discovering and developing Lady Gaga. She's such a great producer to work with, because she gets the best performances out of us and really knows how to capture our sound. Chris Cheney from Interscope engineered. We had Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Shania Twain) mix our single ‘California Brain’ and Paul Lapinski (Ludacris, Alicia Keys) mixed the rest of the EP.” Still says, “It has been a minimal amount of luck and mostly hard work that has fueled the band so far. There is no challenge that we aren't willing to take on.We work longer, rock out harder, and treat each day as is it is our last day on earth…!”
RapScallions’ touring history is impressive, to say the least. “We've been very lucky to share the stage with Chris Cornell, Fishbone, English Beat, Wu Tang Clan, Mike Posner, and more,” Clemence says. “We recently licensed our latest single ‘California Brain’ to Ubisoft's newest video game, ‘Rocksmith.’ The game is similar to Guitar Hero, but uses real guitars instead of plastic controllers and will be out on Xbox and PS3 this October, 2011. This year, we performed at the ‘VH1 Save the Music’ benefit concert and the official NBA All-Star Block Party and we’ve also done shows at the LA Convention Center, and Mandalay Bay Event Center in front of over 7000+ people." “It says a lot for an independent band to release a CD, Music Video and debut in mega-mutil platinum Video game with no assistance,” Still announces proudly
