21 years and over
After packing up their lives (and songs) and moving from Brooklyn to Portland in 2011, DANIEL HINDMAN and SARAH VERSPRILLE realized that it was time to put a name to the batch of songs they'd been working on -- PURE BATHING CULTURE was born. Through various serendipitous connections, multi-instrumentalist and producer RICHARD SWIFT (Secretly Canadian) heard their early demos and immediately invited them to record with him at his National Freedom Studio in Cottage Grove, OR. The fruits of this recording session comprise their self-titled EP, an elegant collection of four beautiful songs, constructed with smooth melodies embodying the nostalgia of soft soulful 80s pop but with a freshness all of their own. This August will see the release of their soaring debut full length, Moon Tides, out via Partisan Records. Doylestown, PA trio NIGHT PANTHER bring their "sex-pop" to our stage tonight, combining massive, whirling synths, ferocious percussion and a smooth, syrupy falsetto that'll have the kids bumpin' and grindin' (if that's still a thing). Be on the lookout for the band's new singles as they prep the release of their debut full-length. Opening tonight's show is local homeboys GOLD CULT, a jazzy indie-rock four-piece who released their debut EP this past January.
