Jazz Standard, New York, NY
Appearing on our stage in January in the Joe Lovano led celebration of Ornette Coleman’s Free Jazz, trumpeter Jeremy Pelt knocked us out with his tidal–wave energy and on–point musicianship. Now he’s back at Jazz Standard, this time playing the music of a great new High Note CD, Water And Earth – Pelt’s tenth album as a leader, and one of his most exciting and adventurous sessions to date. Water And Earth features the trumpeter at the helm of a potently grooving electric band and the voices of Ra–Re Valverde, Angela Roberts, and Fabiana Masili; he wrote and produced the album’s ten tracks, which were recorded at Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. “Pelt is a technical marvel,” wrote Ron Wynn at JazzTimes.com. “He executes intricate solos with ease, plays gorgeous ballads in a tasteful manner, and never lacks flair or sensitivity.”
Jeremy Pelt – trumpet
Roxy Coss – tenor & soprano saxophones
Frank LoCrasto – Fender Rhodes
David Bryant – keyboards
Richie Goods – electric bass
