Additional Information

Galactic are excited to announce a very special benefit concert for their longtime friend and former bandmate Theryl "Houseman" DeClouet on March 23 at Tipitina’s Uptown. This event will be a multi-band night of great New Orleans music full of surprises and collaborations, including DeClouet on lead vocals for Galactic's set. Joining the lineup are Roger Lewis, Greg Davis, and Kirk Joseph from Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Revivalists, John Gros and June Yamagishi from Papa Grows Funk, and several unannounced special guests.

DeClouet relocated to Chicago after Hurricane Katrina took everything he owned. The goal of the evening is to assist DeClouet in his efforts to re-settle in his hometown of New Orleans as it will further enrich the musical community to have him back where he belongs. This will be an amazing night of music for a great cause! Doors open at 8PM and the show starts at 9PM. Tickets cost $35 and are available now @ http://www.tipitinas.com

After almost 10 years of recording and touring the world together, Theryl "Houseman" DeClouet and Galactic amicably parted company in 2004. DeClouet is the featured vocalist on Galactic's first five albums (including Coolin' Off and Crazyhorse Mongoose). This collaboration was an extension of a friendship started back in 1990, when Robert Mercurio and Jeff Raines met DeClouet at the legendary (and now defunct) Benny's nightclub, well before the two had started Galactic.

Galactic formed nineteen years ago in New Orleans and cut their teeth playing the biggest party in America: Mardi Gras! Their latest release, 2012’s “Carnivale Electricos,” is beyond a party record. It’s a carnival record that evokes the electric atmosphere of a whole city vibrating together on the same day. To make the album, the members of Galactic (Ben Ellman, harps and horns; Robert Mercurio, bass; Stanton Moore, drums and percussion; Jeff Raines, guitar; Rich Vogel, keyboards) drew on all the skills, stamina, and funk they typically deploy live in concert.
