Whaddya gonna need to soothe your soul, raise your spirits, loosen up that stiff neck, and maybe numb up that nasty toothache of yours? Bluesman Tommy Castro & The Pain Killers are sure to do the trick. Though, admittedly, he probably won’t do much for that beer gut or receding hairline. What this West Coast-based guitarist will do, however, is play the no-nonsense kind of blues he’s been dishing out since the 80s. During the 90s, Castro’s career picked up full steam, with multiple awards received for blues albums he’d cut for labels like Telarc and Blind Pig. In 2011, Tommy became the honorary Captain of Alligator Records’ famed Rhythm & Blues Cruises, which took music lovers on the open seas with some of their favorite musical artists. In 2013, Tommy assembled the Pain Killers, who have helped Tommy incorporate more even more blue-eyed soul, and yes, maybe even a little bit of rock n’ roll, too. While we’re on the subject of rock n’ roll, hailing from the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame city is The Alan Greene Band, who have been putting their indelible stamp on Cleveland’s music scene for decades.
