Additional Information

Let’s take a trip down south on the Cuyahoga like our area’s forebears did -- probably on a sturdy little barge pulled by mules -- and wade into some bluegrass compliments of Noam Pikelny. This Punch Brothers banjoist and songwriter brings some friends -- killer musicians all -- on the road. Bryan Sutton, Ronnie McCourty, Luke Bulla, and Barry Bales will share the stage with Noam tonight. Sutton is a six-time winner of the IMBA Guitarist of the Year award, received a Grammy in 2007 for his work with Doc Watson, and is a former member of Ricky Scaggs’ Kentucky Thunder band. Ronnie McCoury is a magnificent mandolinist, and son of legend Del McCoury; he has has recorded or performed with such diverse acts as Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Phish, Charlie Daniels, John Hartford, Vince Gill, Loretta Lynn, and Alison Krauss. Fiddler Luke Bulla is also a former member of Kentucky Thunder, but currently is part of a band walled Works Progress Administration (featuring members of Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Nickel Creek, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Toad The Wet Sprocket). Barry Bales is a member of Allison Krauss and Union Station; he has also been awarded 14 Grammys, one Country Music Association award, one Academy of Country Music award, and 11 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, including Bass Player of the Year in 2008.
