Additional Information

Tonight’s Free Monday is one for the ages, kiddies, so grab your zero dollars and come out for a night of interstellar sonic exploration from three very exciting, very different Chicago outfits. IMPLODES has been rocking our brains consistently since their 2009 inception and tonight we help them celebrate the release of their new full-length, Recurring Dream, out last week on Kranky. The album retains the crushing qualities of their debut record while bringing the distant melodies and submerged rhythms out of the ether and into the light of day. Continuing to explore the deep, dark places of human existence, IMPLODES channel the sounds of earth and space and deep water and simple machines, nudging listeners awake in the most gently brutal way possible. POPULATION, an outfit comprised of members of some of Chicago’s most inventive punk rock, garage and new wave psych bands come together with their combination the robotic rhythms and deathly vocal delivery of NEW ORDER with the overpowering sonic structures of early shoegaze noise. An unexpected visitor of sorts, ACTEURS is a new duo comprised of BRIAN CASE (DISAPPEARS, THE PONYS, 90 DAY MEN) and JEREMY LEMOS (WHITE/LIGHT) and we were delighted by the released of their debut, self-titled mini-album on England’s Public Information label this past February. Tonight marks CASE & LEMOS’s first live performance as ACTEURS and we expect their dark-ish, razor-sharp synth trance-outs to elicit a good number of dance floor freak-outs as they open tonight’s festivities. DJ SCARY LADY SARAH will be bringing the noise and spinning the horror from the turntables all night long.
