Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Considering he is the former frontman of pioneering punk and indie rock bands JAWBREAKER and JETS TO BRAZIL, it's safe to say we're pretty damn excited to welcome BLAKE SCHWARZENBACH's newest band FORGETTERS to our stage. The band formed in 2009 and has since released a self-titled EP and LP, the latter of which came out last year just as rumors began to surface that the band had broken up. Melding the fury of his early work with the melodic and head-scratching complexity SCHWARZENBACH is known for, the Brooklyn-based trio, which also consists of former AGAINST ME! drummer KEVIN MAHON and bassist/keyboardist MICHELLE PROFFIT, plays scrappy but enormous and anthemic punk rock that fans old and young will gobble up. ALL EYES WEST came together in the summer of 2010 and has since made a strong impression on Chicago's vibrant rock community. The trio released their debut, self-titled LP on Jump Start Records in mid-2011, a blazing album of melodic punk rock that pays homage to the 80s and 90s underground and has since seen the band open for legends like BOB MOULD, OFF!, BRAID, and others. Chicago's PAMPHLETEERS open the show, deriving from a deep and abiding commitment to the hook and the occasional trip to the whitewashed stratosphere. Drawing on myriad influences from the early British Invasion, nascent psychedelia, proto-metal, to 1980’s new wave, the trio yield tuneful nuggets and aggressively moody dirges that lodge deep in your medial pre-fontal cortex.
