Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Brooklyn-based experimenter ROBERTO CARLOS LANGE, aka HELADO NEGRO, has been making waves in the electronic underground for the past couple years and this week sees the release of LANGE's much-anticipated LP Invisible Life, out via Asthmatic Kitty. Adding to his already prolific, never dull catalog, the new album weaves samples rhythms and heavily-textured synth patterns with LANGE's smoky vocals to create a seductive, narcotic daydream. Singing in both English and Spanish for the first time on record, we're excited to witness HELADO NEGRO's sultry dance music to come alive on our stage, and on the dance floor. Local trio SONGS FOR GODS, featuring members of CHANDELIERS, ICY DEMONS and KILLER WHALES, return to the Bottle stage tonight with their heavily looped auditory mind melting. Bound together for a free-spirited exercise in enlightenment and illumination, the trio seeks higher states of consciousness through their poly-rhythmic funk hallucinations. Laid-back beat-maker RADIUS, known around town as RAMON ETC, opens tonight's show, leaning more to the hip-hop side of sample-based music to create a sonic wonderland ripe for all the booty-shaking you can handle.
