21 years and over
Brooklyn-based COUNTRY MICE formed in 2008 and quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live show that incorporated heavy drums, blazing psych guitars, poetic lyrics and melodies that refuse to leave the ol’ noggin. The band has drawn comparisons to WILCO, NEIL YOUNG, THE BYRDS and DINOSOUR JR and their new record Hour of the Wolfis comes out mere days before we get to have them play our stage. The new record is an earnest and energetic listen that highlights COUNTRY MICE’s Americana roots while showcasing their ability to rip like rock’n’roll bands should. BIRDCLOUD is a pair of young ladies from Tennessee who became friends in 2009 and wrote their first song together, a song about going down on your best friend, that’s since been lost to the sands of time. Since then they’ve gotten lukewarm responses around their adopted home of Nashville, but continue to sit on each other’s faces and show each other their bruises while writing brilliantly hilarious songs like “Warshing My Big Ol’ Pussy” and “Saving Myself for Jesus.” TODAYSHITS is the new project from southern folkie JAMES SWANBERG with KENNY from MAGIC MILK on drums and ANDREW from THE SUEVES on some kind of guitar. We've been told it's a little more “Kentucky” than us Yankees usually hear ‘round these parts, which fits with tonight's theme. Chicago newcomer NEIL O'NEIL will kick off the night's shenanigans.
