The provocative series, in which live music, discussion and custom curatorial tours blend in an after-hours event, continues. This season First Fridays delves into the future of science, exploring the questions raised by recent breakthroughs: Will we be walking among woolly mammoths? Will we be able to harness our brainpower to become more creative? Is climate change causing us to evolve? Will we live in buildings designed by termites? Are we doomed to go the way of the dinosaurs or, perhaps, will we live forever? Join us this year as we look at the latest happenings in the fields of genetics, neuroscience, evolution, biomimicry, paleontology and human biology and learn how the science fiction of yesterday may become the reality of the future!
Each discussion forum will be moderated by the witty Michael W. Quick, Ph.D. (Department of Biological Sciences and Executive Vice Provost, University of Southern California College of Letters, Arts & Sciences).
First Friday admission includes full access to open Museum galleries. Access to the concert hall is guaranteed only with the purchase of a "Concert + Museum Admission" or a "Concert + Annual Pass" ticket through this site. Guided tour and discussion are available on a first come, first served basis to all ticket-holders.
It is recommended that you purchase tickets in advance as capacity for the evening is limited and often sells out early. There will be a limited number of tickets sold on-site the evening of the event; however, once on-site tickets are sold out, admission to the Museum and/or Concert may not be available. Annual Pass is non-transferrable.
