It’s a Twofer Twosday Free with RSVP Teen River showcase at the Bottle – all the best things colliding in one night of buffoonery! Teen River has been one of our favorite tape labels in the city since they first launched in 2011 and it’s been crazy how many great releases they’ve put out in under two years. Tonight will feature some damn good bands that have put out or will be putting tapes out with TR very soon. COOL MEMORIES are celebrating the release of their new tape at tonight’s show. The Chicago youngsters combine dark, ambient synth swells over driving rhythm topped off with a primal howl creating heavy, acid drenched psych jams with layers of keyboards, guitars, rumbling bass lines, drums and some sweet, sweet sax and open here tonight. BEN BILLINGTON plays TIGER HATCHERY, MOONRISES, PANDAVA and other prominent bands in Chicago’s DIY scene. Tonight sees him playing under the QUICKSAILS moniker, a solo, weirdo-noise project that’s celebrating the release of his new tape Weight of Worth. Newcomers COLUMBIA FASCIATA features WHITNEY ALLEN and NICK HAGEN from TOUPEE performing as a super weird duo that sounds like a Werner Herzog soundtrack come alive on stage with WHITNEY’s characteristically bizarre antics. Lo-fi rockers FAMOUS LAUGHS open tonight’s show with their damaged but friendly tunes.
