Doombalaya was started as an outgrowth of the jam sessions of a handful of Tulane students. After a moderately successful gig at Der Rathskeller, in downstairs region of the LBC, the band grew to include a much bigger horn section and began to write some of its own songs.

Doombalaya currently is trying to get an EP off the ground, and currently is finalizing its schedule for the fall. The current line-up consists of:
