Chicago's Silent Tongues plays free jazz or, as some call it, "improv jazz." Silent Tongues makes an alto saxophone sound like screeching cats, a trombone like wet rubber tires, and a trumpet like an alto saxophone. 1.45 songs will be played.
Korean Jeans is a noisy, energetic duo of drums, amplified tuba, and more. Beth "lost her way" into the avant-garde scene of Cage, Zorn, and Nono, and especially electroacoustic music. Neal was influenced strongly by rock musicians & composers, the likes of Shellac, Minutemen, Reich, and Branca. The result is definitively UPPERCASE improvisations, songs, covers, contemporary music, & more.
Lakeside collective is made up of Brendan Norton (Bass) Mike Rosen (Guitar), Pat Hulseman (Keyboard, Vocals), Andrew Pilacoutas (Drums). The band formed in 2011 in Chicago and has been putting together original material, With high energy eclectic songs that cross between many genres including funk, rock, jazz and jam music.
Strays is a collaboration between brothers Gabe and Nate Michalski. Writing partners since 2003, they've existed in many different forms. In 2010 they came to Chicago to chart a new path. Their songs combine the personal and with the abstract; divining influence from film, comic-books, conspiracy theorists, and paranoid lunatics.
