21 years and over
The Empty Bottle and Plan USA/Because I Am A Girl are stoked to present KATE NASH playing a small-club show on our humble stage! Known for her late 2000s hits "Foundations" and "Doo-Wah-Doo," the bratty, indie-pop darling is touring in support of her new release Girl Talk, out via her very own Have 10p label. Dropping her label and going off on her own in the past year, NASH has upped the ante, bringing a rougher edge to her melodic, infectious pop. Employing an all-girl backing band that adds significant muscle with jagged guitars and a thundering rhythm section, NASH herself has brought a JOAN JETT-like snarl to her gorgeous voice and, honestly, we're blown away by what we've heard thus far. It's not often we have multi-platinum selling artists on our stage and we can't wait for this one to go down. Indie bubblegum band SUPERCUTE! is made up of 18 year-old Rachel Trachtenburg (who gained her indie cred as the daughter in The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players), 16 year-old Julia Cumming, 13 year old Olivia Ferrer and drummer Jacqueline Russo. SUPERCUTE! has a quirky, cool, cute sound fitting together bubble gum, psychedelic rock, and straight up rock'n'roll that makes for one hell of a party.
Because I am a Girl is Plan International's global initiative focused on improving the lives of 4 million girls and their families by 2016. Girls in developing countries face overwhelming odds from the moment they are born - they are more likely to be malnourished, forced into early marriage, subjected to violence, trafficked, or sold. Because I am a Girl, along with Kate Nash, is looking to change that.
