So you’re looking at this headlining artist’s name and thinking, “Wait..no...really? Could he possibly be related to Sir Paul?” If that’s what you guessed, contestant, you’re right. It’s the very one and only James McCartney (son of Linda, too!) who, according to Wikipedia, sang on records such as Flaming Pie and Driving Rain. Tonight, James McCartney comes to Cleveland to play songs from his debut full-length, Me, out on May 21st. Yet, despite never having released a proper album, James has recorded quite a bit, such as the EPs Available Light, Close At Hand, and The Complete EP Collection. James’ sweetly lean and sinewy voice is reminiscent more of English folk artists with a pop bent, rather than the characteristic McCartney sound. Of course that’d be the case, if you think about it. If there’s one thing James must have picked up from his famed father is the ability to absorb a variety of influences and to keep musically questing for his most honest songs. Opening is Dan Miraldi, a Cleveland artist who’s not only been recently touring the United States (and we mean, thoroughly!) but who has also found time to release the Freewheelin’ Dan Miraldi EP, recorded at Cleveland studio The Frequency Room.
