We sure hope it doesn’t take you “500 Miles” to check tonight’s featured performers, the Scottish duo The Proclaimers. Because if it does, you might miss out a hell of a lot more than their monster hit that introduced the word “haiver” to US audiences (haiver, haver v. To talk fooolishly; n. nonsense, a person who talks nonsense.) In addition to their classic album, Sunshine On Leith (here you can find “500 Miles”), do yourself a solid favor and dig up Born Innocent, the Proclaimers’ totally rocking 2003 release. Whatever Proclaimers album you dig up, you’ll find a mixture of Everly Brothers’-styled ballads, Scottish northern soul, grandly brash UK rock in the latter-day Morrissey vein, and of course, the mighty voices of Charlie and Craig Reid, known as the Proclaimers. Tonight, they’ll be performing as an acoustic duo.
