Brooklynites Buke & Gase play post-punk with a modified baritone ukulele and a bass-itar. They play modified amps, tricked-out guitar pedals, and y’know what, none of this sounds even remotely folky. They get dumped into that pile due to their brandishing of acoustic instruments. The pile they do belong in dates back from that unique and short-lived era when bands like Liars, Oneida, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and TV On The Radio were brilliantly mashing up pop, rock, and experimental sounds. Buke & Gase don’t sound like much else, and in fact, they challenge you to come on their uncommon, uncompromising, but ultimately fun journey. Ahleuchatistas are a drums and guitar duo with a penchant for jazz and math-rock based (think latter-day Don Caballero) improv. Cleveland-based multi-instrumentalist and producer J. Buckner opens.
