Drawing comparisons to THE DICKS, FEAR, and the punchline to a fart joke Chicago's GALACTIC INMATE have fed their fans of dozens their rarely updated set of "power punk" since 2005. Formed by members of 36 INVISIBLES, RABID RABBIT and THE LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS, "The Inmate" play sporadically but always with the unrelenting power of drummer Brett Whitacre, guitarist Keith Herzik's spastic, dive bomb guitar playing and bassist Arman Mabry's knuckle punch to the throat bass and drill sergeant-like vocal delivery. They are loud, kids. Very, very loud.
Dynamic, aggressive post-punk. Rollo Tomasi marries heavy, minimalist guitar riffs ala Helmet and Quicksand with thick, disorted bass lines played over focused, four-on-the-floor drumming. Their tightly constructed songs are upbeat but deliberately side-step cliche melodies in favor of something much more powerful... a dense wall of sound that lures you in by force.
The Means are back reincarnated thanks to primary songwriter Jason Frederick. They are back full force -- the good never really go away.
