Brooklyn’s own “engaging, thoroughly charming” (Out with the Kids) Tim and the Space Cadets write songs about the important things in life: snow days, summer vacations, and pizza parties. Songwriters Tim Kubart and Matt Puckett take on familiar and iconic childhood experiences with indie flair, distorted guitars, and lyrics that bridge the gap between innocence and wisdom in a way for listeners of all ages to appreciate and understand, including their XMKiDs chart-topping single “Superhero.” Come celebrate the release of Anthems for Adventure, their first full-length album, about adventures as grand as riding a cardboard rocketship to space and as small as giving up an old pair of sneakers for new ones. The band will be premiering songs and telling stories alongside guest musicians, a horn section, aerialist dancers, and a tap dancing sidekick . A special guest performance by Mario the Magician will open the show, and temporary tattoos will be supplied by Frolic! playspace. Every kid will receive a free CD with admission.
The show is great for all ages, but best for kids ages 3-10
Part retro, part rock and roll, Mario the Magician brings old-world style with modern charm to the young and young-at-heart. He is a true artist and inventor who creates his own props. Mario's physical comedy style is reminiscent of his heroes, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, but he puts a thoroughly unique spin on everything he does.
Mario the Magician is a full-time New York-based performer. He has performed for Lincoln Center, the New York Times, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Discovery Communications, and many other fixtures of the NYC area. Mario has been featured in Small Magazine, The Tribeca Trib, the New York Post, MAGIC Magazine, and recommended by the New York Times, Time Out New York Kids, New York Magazine, NY1, CBS News, and many others. Mario performs a monthly show in Tribeca in addition to various other public and private events.
