Singer-songwriter KEVIN RIEG has been performing around Chicago for several years before putting together MANY PLACES, a folk project featuring members of indie-rock group HONEST ENGINES. Their debut album Another Oath, out via Tandem Shop, is a serious but relaxing listen, blending casually lo-fi recording with calming atmospherics that’ll make you feel like you’re floating away on your own Viking Funeral. A band of miscreants, vagabonds, pineys, and wayward sailors, THE FISHERMEN found themselves in the backwaters of Chicago & forged a new brand of American murder ballad set to an ol' timey beat. Outfitted with folk instrumentation and knowledge of the dark arts, these lost seamen are forever obliged by Satanic contract to vex you with a floor-stompin' good time & croon you into a drunken slumber wrought with nightmares. Majestic folkies THE HUMMINBIRD brings the freaky and psychedelic out tonight with their unique blend of spiritual, backwoods singer-songwriter tuneage that’s all acid-trip meets vision quest.
