21 years and over
New York’s PSYCHIC ILLS spawned from electronic-centered recording experiments in the early aughts and has since formed as a full band hell bent on creating sonic weirdness that explores a variety of musical terrain. From synthesizer-heavy space-outs and raga rumbles to sunburned psych-pop awash in warm tones and damaged blues, PSYCHIC ILLS are continuously evolving and moving forward musically and their newest record, One Track Mind, released in February via Sacred Bones, is their most straight-forward rock record yet. Playing our stage for the first time since 2006, PSYCHIC ILLS are bringing their trippy, blissfully ragged live show back and we can’t wait so neither should you. Hailing from Santiago, Chile, FOLLAKZOID is touring the US with PSYCHIC ILLS behind their most recent record, II, also out via Sacred Bones. This is their first time in the states and their psychedelic approach to kraut-rock is sure to melt your mind as it takes you on a serpentine journey through time and space and many, many dimensions. If you’re looking to compare it to anything, think local and imagine DISAPPEARS and CAVE having a sonic lovechild that’s hooked on psychedelics – it’s that good. Local reverb-drenched, heavily textured dream pop purveyors SPECK MOUNTAIN open up tonight’s not-to-be-missed show. Be sure and check out their new album, Badwater, released this past January on Carrot Top Records, to see where they’re going to take us next.
