21 years and over
We here at the Bottle love us some booty-shaking tunes and we're ecstatic to welcome back BIG FREEDIA, the undisputed "Queen Diva" of Bounce Music, and her DIVAS, aka the Azzy Rockettes. At the forefront of a musical movement making butts jiggle from New Orleans and beyond with hit singles, "Gin in My System" and "Azz Everywhere!" from her albums An Ha, Oh Yeah and Queen Diva, BIG FREEDIA's bringing her "Sissy Bounce" from the 3rd Ward to our humble stage once again. Once known as DAAN, a favorite gay-electro trio that packed house shows and small clubs, BAATHHAUS is a queer-performance-art-group-band comprised of multidisciplinary artists Patrick Andrews, Dan Foley, Jesse Young and new addition Jesse Hozeny, creating provocative and original music, dance, and visual art. BAATHHAUS weaves its songs together with narrative, choreography, and costumes combining popular music and culture with dark themes and avant-garde theatrical work (glitter and gore) explicitly exploring the concepts of "otherness." Performances usually give a metaphorical wink to audiences while seriously addressing strong political and social themes. Local all lady four-piece SWIMSUIT ADDITION kick things off with their version of dirty surf-pop/cheerleader grunge. Coming off an impressive 2012 that saw them release a stellar EP and a 7-inch, these ladies have been hailed by the Chicago Reader for their "apocryphal-Halloween-scare-story bubblegum that's full of broken glass."
