21 years and over
London’s plucky goth-pop quartet VERNOICA FALLS returns to the Empty Bottle, having premiered their delightfully catchy first single, “Teenage,” off their upcoming Waiting For Something to Happen LP, out on February 13 via Slumberland/Bella Union. Shifting gears from the tongue-in-cheek macabre references of their first record, V-FALLS is now taking a hopeful, direct look at mid-20s aimlessness. Creating something more polished, more affecting and more enduring than the ghostly romances and suicides of their debut album, VERONICA FALLS have evolved into a more poised, confident pop entity on the new record and we can’t wait to see how much they’ve grown up when they return to our stage. Los Angeles’s COLD SHOWERS make their Empty Bottle debut tonight, touring with VERONICA FALLS for this March trek. Fusing shoegaze and no-wave into loud, crafty pop songs, COLD SHOWERS’ brash, compulsive post-industrial sound was fully realized on their excellent debut LP Love and Regret, out last year via Dais Records. Live the band is a lumbering, sometimes terrifying beast that is not to be missed, so do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on this rising five-piece. After years spent playing in MAKE BELIEVE, CHIN UP CHIN UP, VACATIONS and JOAN OF ARC, BOBBY BURG’S newest output comes in the form of LOVE OF EVERYTHING, a sometimes-duo sometimes-solo project that allows Mr. BURG to explore his minimal pop sensibilities when he’s not recording or touring the world with his other outfits. His last release, 2011’s Sooner I Wish 7” out via Polyvinyl, expands on his approach and is infused with stripped-down melodies that make for some truly catchy and provoking tunes. These songs will stay in your head long after your hear them, whether you like it or not – we think you’ll like it.
