TransActions is hosting "The Legends Ball" a benefit show a 2012 Post-World AIDS Day award ceremony commemorating 31 years into the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We're inviting all past award recipients of the prestigious Chicago Department of Public Health's "Hope & Spirit" and "Long Term Survivor Award" to commemorate 31 years into HIV/AIDS, by paying tribute and homage to TransActions abbreviated award ceremony.
TransActions will present TransActions "Spirit of Hope", "Living Long Term", "Compassion" , and "Agency Award"awards to outstanding individuals for there tireless work of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Also, we'll be presenting the "Living Legend" award to a transgender woman who has been a true role model to the Chicagoland transgender community.
Award recipients for "Spirit of Hope" award are Dr. Robert Garofalo (Lurie Children's Hosiptal) and Sheila Webb Cooper (Ruth Rothstein Core Center). Award recipient for " Outstanding Agency" award is Howard Brown Community Health Center honoring the legacy of Lois Bates. Yhe award recipient for the "Compassion" award is Kenis Williams. Award recipient for "Living Long Term" is Clarence Thomas (McDermott Haymarket Center). Award recipient for the "Living Legend" award is Sheri Payne (Baton Show Lounge).
TransActions 2012 post-World AIDS will highlight HIV prevention, offer HIV/Hep C testing, and education during the event.
The Baton Show Lounge Female Impersonators will entertain at this award ceremony main show starts promptly at 7:00pm.
Pre-Show starts promptly at 6:30pm - the Center on Halsted will present "The Night of the Falling Stars". Followed by CDPH HIV Epi Surveillance status report and Transgender status report.
All proceeds will help TransActions build agency capacity to serve Chicago's underserved transgender community.
This is a benefit show $25.00 donation tickets are still available for reserved seating.
Light refreshments will be served from 5:00pm to 6:20pm.
