21 years and over
Hey, hey, holy shit it’s THE GIZMOS! The legendary Indiana punk band is reuniting for a post-apocalyptic whammy! of a show at the Bottle that’s sure to tear the roof off the rafters, or however the saying goes. Showcasing their hits from the 70s like “The Midwest Can Be Allright” (that’s true) and “Rock & Roll Don’t Come from New York” (also true), these Bloomington bomb-shells have reunited for only one other date (that we know of) in Indianapolis and are sure to go down as one of our top reunion shows of 2012, alongside ROKY ERICKSON and REDD KROSS, of course. PARQUET COURTS came out of nowhere this year with one of the hookiest, rawest debut albums we’ve heard in a long time. Featuring ANDREW SAVAGE of FERGUS & GERONIMO, Light Up Gold, out this year via Dull Tools, is a dynamic and diverse foray into the back alleys of the American DIY underground. With bright, swirling guitar lines over groovy bass lines and robotic drumming, SAVAGE declares in the liner notes: “This record is for the over-socialized victims of the 1990s ‘you can be anything you want,’ Nickelodeon-induced lethargy that ran away from home not out of any wide-eyed big city daydream, but just out of a subconscious return to America’s scandalous origin.” Here, here! Do not miss this band. Opening up the show are our old friends THE YOLKS, who were ON A BOAT the last time they played a show with us. Priding themselves for putting the soul back in rock n' roll, THE YOLKS have been praised by Terminal Boredom for being "cool enough to seem like they're not trying to impress anyone, but end up doing just that" and we're happy to have them back to open tonight’s messy rock extravaganza.
