The Academy Blues Project 9:30pm
The Academy Blues Project is a band out of Bergen (NJ) and Rockland (NY) counties that brings a unique blend of blues, rock, pop, soul, R&B, and funk influences to the NYC area. They have been together for the better part of a decade, and continue performing original music in addition to their eclectic list of covers in a variety of genres. This concert (1/18, 9:30 pm) will mark their 6th consecutive year playing at Sullivan Hall.
Sharkmuffin is the dirty pop rock lovechild of singer/guitarist, Tarra Thiessen, bassist, Natalie Kirch, and drummer, Drew Adler. Thiessen delivers gutsy vocals that jump between gentle moans to rough, forceful screams all while being sweetly complimented by Kirch's lighter, dreamier melodies. Their 90s alternative girl group-esque hooks paired with heavy, hooky 70s-inspired guitar riffs create the raw sound of these Brooklynite punk rocking debutants. www.sharkmuffin.com
