Logan Square Auditorium, Chicago, IL
18 years and over
The one, the only, Chicago’s very own “circus punk marching band” MUCCA PAZZA set their sights on ringing in 2013 at Logan Square Auditorium tearing through their raucous, gypsy flavored brand of punk rock complete with a gaggle of trombones, trumpets, woodwinds, cheerleaders and freaks. The thirty-some piece group of rag tag musicians have put on some of the most astounding, chaotic and memorable shows we’ve seen with members perched atop the bar and cheerleaders, literally, swinging from the rafters and you do not want to miss them peel the paint off the walls to usher in the New Year. Ginger sibling duo WHITE MYSTERY have been very busy since their inception, releasing 7”s with Hozac and Whistler Records, self-releasing two LPs, pogoing with the kids on Chic-A-Go-Go,touring across the US and earning rave reviews from national and local publications – MTV, WBEZ, Vocalo, the Onion – and the list goes on. If you’ve seen them once, you’ll be singing along. Joining in tonight’s ampersand fest, JON DRAKE & THE SHAKES describe themselves as "country/folk/dirty pop" and with eight players manning trumpets, trombones, cello, violin, organs, upright bass, guitars and drums, it can indeed get crazy and dirty and undeniably fun. Their debut LP, The Declaration of Ulysses, was released this past summer and builds upon the sonic menagerie that boils over in their live shows.
