21 years and over
‘Save Syria’ is a benefit concert featuring local Chicago music artists SIDEWALK CHALK, BASSEL & THE SUPERNATURALS and CARBON TIGERS. Proceeds from the show will fund humanitarian efforts within Syria, where over 5,000,000 people are in critical need of assistance.
SIDEWALK CHALK has recently been named ‘Most Outstanding Band’ (Chicago Music Awards) and ‘Best Local Hip-Hop Artist’ (Chicago Reader). They are also featured in this year’s Annual Winter Block Party, hosted by WBEZ. BASSEL AL-MADANI, a first generation Syrian-American, and his soulful Chicago ensemble will release their 12” vinyl EP in tandem with the charity event. Dreamer is a fitting title for the new record, as the production has played a crucial role in BASSEL’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the intense daily struggles faced by his family in Aleppo, Syria. Indie-rockers CARBON TIGERS kick things off and they're making their Empty Bottle debut tonight, playing songs off self their released debut EP, The Burrows, and the first of their home recorded series, The Dover Sessions, Vol. I: What I Say & What I Mean.
We will donate 45% of profits from the show to our charitable cause in Syria. We will also have opportunities for attendees to make additional donations if they would like. Two volunteers will be circulating with donation boxes, and we will place a donation box on the merchandise table. There will also be a system for accepting credit card contributions. We will donate the funds to two organizations that are directly assisting families within Syria, where the need is the greatest:
