Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Grab your earplugs for this week's Free Monday because we've got three of Chicago's best hard-rocking monsters hitting our stage. THE SWAN KING are a Chicago heavy rock collective featuring former members of ASSCHAPEL and PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS whose debut LP Eyes Like Knives, recorded by SANFORD PARKER and was released earlier this year by Seventh Rule, has been likened to "THE WIPERS if they were on AmRep." The trio has toured extensively all year behind the excellent record and we’re excited to once again welcome them back to our stage. Tonight they’re joined by our old friends PINEBENDER, a band who played our stage countless times in the late 90s and early aughts, but haven’t been back in over five years! Their slow, melodic but heavy-as-hell rock still burns a hole in our minds whenever we get to catch em live, as we did at this past year’s Do Division Fest, and we welcome them back to Chicago from London, where they recently played the SHELLAC-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties Nightmare Before Christmas. As a band PINK AVALANCHE make their Empty Bottle debut tonight, but the gentlemen in this driving, melodic post-punk four-piece are no strangers to our stage. Featuring guitarist/vocalist CHE ARTHUR of ATOMBOMBPOCKETKNIFE (among others), drummer ADAM REACH of THE POISON ARROWS (among others), guitarist KORTLAND CHASE of CHATTY CATHY (among others) and bassist PETE CROKE of TIGHT PHANTOMZ (among others), the group formed earlier this year and are prepping the release of their debut full length, Wraiths.
