Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL
21 years and over
Based in Toronto, TEN KENS is the brainchild of songwriting duo BRETT PAULIN and DAN WORKMAN. Discovered by Fat Cat Records in 2006, TEN KENS was one of the first Canadian bands signed to the famed UK label and in 2012, after two celebrated releases on Fat Cat and Last Gang Records, and several successful tours, TEN KENS carry on their mission as the ever-evolving, genre-altering, sound and vision no-scene music collective. The band has a fearsome live reputation and they’ve shared the stage with some of our favorites, including A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS, NO AGE, DEERHOOF and more. Featuring members of CHIN UP CHIN UP and SPECK MOUNTAIN, THE SWEEPS hit the Bottle for their first time tonight, and considering their past work, we agree with Loud Loop Press who says “The Sweeps could never disappoint. Their songs are catchy, their stage presence is amazing, and the energy from their fans is intoxicating!” Ahoy! Enthusiastic, fuzzy, indie-leaning garage rockers ABSOLUTELY NOT kick off all of the fun tonight. Time Out Chicago has praised them for generating “infectious one-two beat punk chords. It's an Iggy Pop meets Kevin Barnes approach to jagged garage-rock." Leave your family and come rock the eff out – we know you’re sick of them at this point.
